Personal Data Usage Guidelines

The Association of Hong Kong Operating Room Nurses (HKORN) is committed to complying with the provisions of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. To fulfill this commitment, we will ensure that our staff adhere to strict security and confidentiality protocols, and we will strive to comply with and implement the provisions of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance to ensure that personal privacy and data held by the Association are adequately protected, accurate, and securely stored.

Purposes for Data Collection and Use

  • 1. The Association will use your personal data in accordance with the purposes stated at the time of collection.

The personal data you provide (including your name, telephone number, fax number, email, mailing address, and affiliated institution/school/company/organization) may be used by the Association for future communication, handling registrations, issuing receipts, research/analysis/statistics, collecting feedback, event/training invitations/promotions, and other matters related to the Association. Providing personal data to the Association is voluntary. If you fail to provide sufficient personal data, the Association may not be able to process your application or provide the related services effectively.

  • 3. When browsing the Association’s website, small text files (“cookies”) may be collected to help identify users and interact with the application. The data collected is used only for aggregate statistical purposes to understand how visitors use the site, as well as to manage and improve the website’s design. Note: Most browsers are set to accept cookies by default; you may change your settings to refuse cookies. However, if you do so, you may find that some site functionalities no longer work properly.

Accessing, Updating Personal Data & Opting Out of Promotional Use

  • 1. Unless otherwise exempted under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, you have the right to request access to and correction of your personal data held by the Association, as well as the right to request cessation of using your data for promotional purposes—unless the data has already been deleted following completion of its intended use.
